Since Summer 2024, EMILI has been working with the Canadian Association of Farm Advisors (CAFA) to provide their members with foundational data literacy knowledge to help them engage with farm clients on agricultural tech and data issues.

Over a series of Zoom webinars, EMILI connected with close to 50 CAFA members about the importance of farm data literacy, practical approaches to cybersecurity, and the core components of agtech contracts and farm data use agreements.

“CAFA is incredibly thankful to EMILI for sharing their expertise with our members through the delivery of their Data Literacy Webinar Series,” said CAFA Executive Director Amanda Bibeau. “EMILI staff were flexible to our members’ needs and interests and delivered high-quality presentations in an accessible and engaging manner.  We appreciate the level of care and detail that were put into these presentations and look forward to a continued partnership.”

Participants were CAFA members across Canada including accountants, lawyers, financial advisors, and insurance professionals. Trusted advisors play a critical role in supporting farm businesses from coast to coast. As a result it is essential that they are aware and engaged on key emerging issues facing their clients, like farm data governance.

EMILI’s free data literacy program, Fundamentals of Farm Data, was developed as part of the Canadian Agri-Food Data Initiative with the goal of equipping farmers and other people working in the agri-food sector with knowledge they need to integrate digital agriculture tools and farm data into their day-to-day on-farm.
