What is needed to drive productivity in agriculture? This is one of the questions that EMILI’s Manager of Public Policy and Stakeholder engagement posed to FCC Economist Craig Klemmer during a panel discussion at Agriculture Enlightened 2024. Klemmer highlighted the importance of collaboration to mobilize agtech innovation and unlock productivity.
So, it is really is a story about collaboration. And when I hear the stories about the smart farms and bringing in different ideas, testing them, and scaling them up, I’m really excited about that.
That’s how we need to be working together to make sure that agriculture is leading this part of the technology boom, leading those opportunities, finding those opportunities that we can increase overall productivity, and then looking for the winners out there that we can commercialize that we can invest in.
If we can make better decisions because we have more information in timeliness, or we have you know new information about what’s the optimal seeding rate for different crops, those things are going to all be things that are going to increase productivity.
So I think that we can achieve that goal because I think we have the solutions out there. We just need to mobilize them.
