About the technology
Agricultural spray drones are remotely piloted unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV’s) designed for precision agriculture. Spray drone technology utilizes GPS navigation, AI-powered mapping, and built in spray systems for precise application of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and liquid fertilizers.
Spray drone trials
GROSSE ISLE (2025-2026)
Corteva Agriscience is conducting spray drone trials in canola and wheat fields on Innovation Farms. The spray drone trials will examine if fungicides applied by spray drone deliver similar efficacy compared with ground-based application. The trials will also explore various spray water volumes to determine water volume sensitivity and its overall effect on efficacy.
This technology is being evaluated on EMILI’s Innovation Farms and across the AIVA Network’s Validation Hubs, providing a national lens on how the technology works across Canada’s diverse agricultural regions.
