Alterra Innovation‘s GrainTracker system integrates RFID sensors onto harvest equipment – including combines, grain carts, grain trucks, augers, and bins – to capture real-time data on harvested grain movement, reducing the need for manual data entry. This automated system tracks each batch from field to bin, documenting its journey and increasing traceability while minimizing human error.

EMILI is working with Alterra Innovation to validate its GrainTracker system, which integrates RFID sensors onto harvest equipment – including combines, grain carts, grain trucks, augers, and bins – to capture real-time data on harvested grain movement, reducing the need for manual data entry. This automated system tracks each batch from field to bin, documenting its journey and increasing traceability while minimizing human error.
While testing and validating technology on Innovation Farms, EMILI works to foster connections amongst innovators. For example, during the 2024 season, the GrainTracker system was installed on the Elmer’s Manufacturing Haulmaster grain cart. Alterra Innovation’s GrainTracker technology improved the farm’s ability to track and monitor grain movement.
